Elgato Studio 2.0: a free teleprompter and camera controls in one app
The Prompter experience from Camera Hub has been redesigned and expanded in Studio, now free for everyone.

Munich, Germany – November 3, 2026
Elgato, a CORSAIR brand, today released Studio 2.0, the next evolution of its video software for PC and Mac. At its heart is a redesigned Prompter experience with a new script editor, improved voice tracking and multi-platform chat. For the first time this experience is open to everyone: the built-in Virtual Prompter turns any laptop or monitor into a teleprompter with no extra hardware. Studio also expands with camera settings, fully replacing Camera Hub and bringing creators’ video workflows together in one place.
“Video gear keeps getting more powerful, but the software needed to run it is increasingly fragmented. More features shouldn’t mean more complexity. With Studio 2.0, creators can write a script, set up their shot and start recording all in one place, and it grows with their setup. That’s where Elgato is heading: hardware and software designed together around how people really work, rather than developed one product at a time.”
– Julian Fest, General Manager of Elgato
What creators asked for
Every part of the Prompter experience has been reworked based on community feedback, starting with the foundations. Studio is faster and smoother on both PC and Mac, with a new interface designed around how creators really work.
The script editor has been completely rethought, with full Markdown support, so formatting such as headings and lists stays intact when text comes from other apps. Scripts now have a dedicated library that is much easier to manage, with search, favorites and tabs for working on several scripts at once. And since a connected Prompter is no longer required, creators can step away from the desk and write whenever inspiration strikes.

Voice Sync, which uses speech recognition to scroll the script at the speaker’s pace, has been redesigned for more reliable tracking. It also no longer requires high-end hardware and now works on virtually any system, including Intel and AMD PCs. New on-screen widgets, such as a timer and a progress indicator, keep creators informed as they go. For productions with an assistant, an operator can now see exactly what the speaker sees and guide the script in real time.
Live chat also goes beyond Twitch, with the arrival of YouTube and Kick, so creators can follow the conversation without looking away from the camera. Those streaming to several platforms can see all messages in a single feed, so nobody is left out.
A teleprompter on any screen
Thanks to the new built-in Virtual Prompter, all these features are now available to anyone who downloads Studio, with no Elgato hardware needed. It turns a laptop or monitor you already own into a teleprompter, with two placements to choose from: Docked and Floating.
Docked places the script in a thin strip just below the camera, keeping the speaker’s gaze close to the lens. It works with any camera on the top edge of the screen, from a laptop’s built-in webcam to a DSLR mounted above a monitor. Because it is free with no time limit, creators can try a teleprompter before investing in new gear.

For setups that need more flexibility, Floating moves the script into a window that can be placed anywhere on screen, for example next to a video call or a presentation. It can even go full screen on a third-party teleprompter working as an extra display, bringing better software to hardware already in use. Creators can unlock Floating by buying Virtual Prompter Pro on Elgato Marketplace or by connecting a physical Prompter.
“We’ve seen how much a teleprompter changes the way creators come across on camera, and that shouldn’t depend on owning one. With Virtual Prompter, every creator can experience the difference first-hand and decide how to proceed.”
– Riccardo Iavarone, Associate Vice President of Marketing at Elgato
A new home for cameras
Creators who own an Elgato Facecam or a Cam Link can now record directly in Studio, right next to the script, for high-quality video with almost no setup. Settings such as resolution, frame rate and codec are built in, and audio can come from any microphone or even a Wave Link mix.
The live preview, now available on both PC and Mac, makes it easy to check that everything is in frame and in focus. The brand-new HUD adds a real-time view of camera settings, along with a composition grid for the perfect shot. While presenting, creators can even show the preview behind the script, so they can read with confidence.

Facecam owners will also find the essential controls here, from zoom and exposure to white balance. Existing settings transfer automatically from Camera Hub, so there is nothing to reconfigure.
Built to grow
Until now, each new device in a video setup usually meant another program to learn and another window to manage. Studio brings everything together and, after Wave Link, is the latest Elgato software available to everyone. Elgato hardware takes the experience further, from built-in recording to perfect eye contact with a physical Prompter.
On Stream Deck, too, all Studio features are one touch away. A completely renewed plugin lets creators navigate the script, adjust the framing or start recording, even while working in other apps. And as their setup expands, the rest of the Elgato ecosystem is ready to grow with it.
