motorola signature 27: Motorola’s most advanced flagship
Motorola calls it the most advanced flagship smartphone the company has ever made. It combines a camera system awarded the DXOMARK Gold Label, the Extreme AMOLED Duo display and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 platform. According to Motorola, it is also the only smartphone on the market with Audio by Bang & Olufsen.
Cameras
- 50 MP Sony LYTIA L910 main camera: with LOFIC technology, for brighter and more balanced video in difficult lighting.
- 200 MP periscope telephoto with 100x Super Zoom: the 3x periscope telephoto also suits portraits, and 100x Super Zoom Pro uses AI to preserve colour, sharpness and detail at extreme distances.
- Dedicated EVS action sensor: the first on a smartphone, according to Motorola. It detects light changes at pixel level and, with the Action Shot feature, helps freeze fast-moving subjects.
- 50 MP wide-angle camera: combines 4 pixels into 1, for an effective resolution of 12.5 MP.
- 50 MP front camera: with 4K video recording.
For video there is the Video Enhancement Engine, which uses AI to optimise colour, contrast and dynamic range in real time, along with Dolby Vision support. Qualcomm electronic stabilisation works with the main camera’s 3.5° OIS.

Display
The Extreme AMOLED Duo panel uses Tandem Technology, which combines two emissive layers into one, and reaches a 12,000-nit peak: Motorola says it is the brightest display available on a smartphone. The figure, measured in Motorola’s labs, refers to 1% of the pixels, and real-world performance may vary.
The resolution is Super HD 1.5K, with Dolby Vision. Compared with the previous generation’s standard AMOLED display, Motorola claims up to 34% better power efficiency and up to 121% longer lifespan. Pantone Validated calibration and SGS-certified blue light technology complete the picture.
Performance, cooling and connectivity
The signature 27 is among the first smartphones with Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. ArcticMesh cooling combines a micro-diamond thermal gel with a vapour chamber 40% larger than the previous generation’s. The new 6-antenna design targets faster 5G downloads and Wi-Fi speeds up to 2x higher than the previous generation, with Wi-Fi 8 compatibility.
Motorola promises 7 operating system updates and up to 7 years of security updates from the global launch date; support may vary by market, carrier and model.
Artificial intelligence
The smartphone is designed for Gemini Intelligence. As Google rolls out the features in the coming months, in selected countries and languages, these will become available:
- Multi-step task assistance: Gemini handles multi-step tasks, such as booking a ride or preparing a grocery order, and users can follow, step in or stop them at any time.
- Rambler: on Gboard, turns speech into tidy text, removing repetitions and filler words, and can rewrite, translate or reformat.
- Create My Widget: creates custom widgets from a spoken or written description.
- Sign-to-Text: on Gboard, translates American Sign Language into English text in real time using the front camera.
Available straight away on the Gemini app are Gemini Omni, which creates and edits video through conversation, and Lyria, which generates soundtracks from simple prompts. There is also Motorola Qira, the AI system linking experiences across supported Motorola and Lenovo devices, which requires a Motorola or Lenovo account and a connection.

Audio and design
Audio by Bang & Olufsen, the result of a multi-year partnership, brings dedicated Sound Modes and an entirely new speaker architecture.
The frame is aerospace-grade aluminium, with contoured edges and a camera plateau in polished ceramic and brushed aluminium. There are two finishes: PANTONE Coal Smoke, a tactical weave inspired by the automotive world, and PANTONE Capulet Olive, inspired by textiles. Protection includes Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3, MIL-STD-810H testing (16 categories and 14 procedures, which do not guarantee future performance) and IP68 and IP69 ratings. It is not waterproof: it withstands up to 1.5 metres of fresh water for 30 minutes and powerful high-temperature jets for 30 seconds, under laboratory conditions.
Battery and charging
The battery has a typical capacity of 7,000 mAh (6,790 mAh rated), 35% more than the previous generation. In Germany the typical capacity is 5,500 mAh.
- TurboPower 90W: Motorola says it restores a day’s worth of energy in 12 minutes. The charger is sold separately.
- 50W wireless: 0 to 100% in up to 80 minutes. This charger is also sold separately.
Security and GrapheneOS
ThinkShield technology and Moto Secure will be joined by GrapheneOS: the signature 27 will become the first Motorola device to support this open source operating system based on the Android Open Source Project, through a collaboration with the GrapheneOS Foundation. It is also the first Motorola with a performant implementation of ARM Memory Tagging Extension. Motorola will share more details in the coming months.

Motorola’s own features include heart rate, blood oxygen (SpO2), stress analysis and, for the first time on a moto watch, menstrual cycle tracking with no separate app. Activity Detection automatically recognises over 100 workout types, and there is also a step counter and dual-frequency GPS.

Display, durability and features
The 1.85″ gOLED display has 2 mm bezels and a 1,500-nit peak, is always on and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The frame is aluminium and the breathable silicone strap comes in PANTONE Stratified Sea, PANTONE Pigeon and PANTONE Ballerina.
Protection is IP68 and 5 ATM; it is not waterproof and the tests are laboratory ones (1.5 metres for 30 minutes in still fresh water; pressure up to 50 metres for 10 minutes). Over Bluetooth you can answer calls from your wrist, with a connected smartphone. In the coming months Motorola Qira will also arrive, with the “Hey Qira” command, paired with a compatible Motorola smartphone.

moto buds 2 ultra: Sound by Bose and up to 37 hours of battery life

Motorola presents them as its most feature-rich earbuds and the best-sounding moto buds ever.

Audio
They feature Bose SoundDesign tuning and Bose QuietControl active noise cancellation, which adapts to the environment, plus Transparency Mode. The dual-speaker system combines an 11 mm dynamic driver and a balanced armature, with Hi-Res Audio support. Compatible Motorola smartphones add Dolby Atmos and Dolby Head Tracking.

Voice and smart features
Each earbud has three high-SNR microphones and a dedicated VPU, six microphones and two VPUs in total, also aimed at voice-overs, podcasts and calls.
- AI Live Translate: real-time translations in the earbuds, with a Motorola smartphone with the built-in translation app. Not all languages are available at launch.
- Motorola Qira: activated by pressing and holding the left earbud; hands-free “Hey Qira” will arrive in the coming months.
- Head Gestures: answer or decline a call with a movement of the head.
- Wear Detection, Dual Connection and Audio Share: automatic pause, two devices connected at once and sharing with a second compatible pair.
- Smart Connect and Google’s Find Hub: continuity across devices and locating lost earbuds or case.

Battery life and durability
Battery life reaches 8 hours on a charge and 37 hours with the case, under optimal conditions. The case supports wireless charging, including with the moto snap charger sold separately. The earbuds are IP57: they withstand dust, splashes and brief immersion in fresh water, but are not waterproof. Settings are managed in the moto buds app, for Google Play and the App Store.
