SAPPHIRE NITRO+ B850A WIFI 7: “Power Your Next Level” for AMD AM5 platforms

SAPPHIRE is putting the spotlight back on its NITRO+ B850A WIFI 7, an ATX motherboard for AMD Socket AM5 processors, under the slogan “Power Your Next Level”. It is based on the AMD B850 chipset and supports Ryzen 9000, 8000 and 7000 Series desktop processors.

Power delivery and cooling

The CPU power section uses 12+2+1 phases, with 55 A per phase. Cooling relies on dedicated heatsinks for the VRM, M.2 drives and chipset (PCH).

Memory, PCIe 5.0 and storage

The four DIMM slots run dual-channel DDR5 memory, up to 256 GB (4 x 64 GB) and up to 8000 MHz OC; the result depends on the CPU and memory configuration. The main graphics slot is PCIe 5.0 x16, joined by one PCIe 4.0 x4 slot and one PCIe 4.0 x2 slot, both in x16 format. Storage options include three M.2 slots (one PCIe 5.0 and two PCIe 4.0) and four SATA ports.

Network and connectivity

Networking comes from 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet (Realtek RTL8125BG) and an M.2 Wi-Fi 7 module supporting 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be on the 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz bands, with Bluetooth 5.4. Audio is handled by the Realtek ALC897 HD with 7.1 channels.

The rear panel offers DisplayPort, HDMI, RJ45, two Wi-Fi antenna connectors, a one-click BIOS flash button, four USB 2.0 ports, three USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A ports, one USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C port and six audio jacks. Onboard headers cover the front ports: USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-C, USB 3.2 Gen1 (two Type-A) and USB 2.0 (two Type-A).

SAPPHIRE CORE BIOS and TriXX-M

The board runs the SAPPHIRE CORE BIOS and can be managed with the TriXX-M utility, available from the manufacturer’s website. Debug LEDs are also included: yellow for DRAM, red for CPU, white for GPU and green for boot.
